Augustine Azuka Okocha popularly known as JayJay Okocha was born on the 14 August 1973. He was a Nigerian professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. A quick and skillful playmaker, who is widely regarded as the best Nigerian player of his generation and one of the greatest African players of all time.
On the field, he was known for his confidence, technique, creativity, and dribbling skills, as well as his use of feints, in particular the stepover.[He is a dual Nigerian-Turkish citizen, having acquired Turkish citizenship as “Muhammet Yavuz”. Okocha was born in Enugu State but he from Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, Nigeria. The name Jay-Jay was actually passed down from his elder brother James, who started playing football first.
His immediate elder brother, Emmanuel was also called Emma Jay-jay, but the name stuck with Okocha instead. He began playing football on the streets before playing officially for the Enugu Rangers. After that, international clubs signed him then he moved to professional football. On 21 February 2015, Okocha was elected as the Chairman of the Delta State Football Association.
In 1997, he got married to Nkechi and they are blessed with two kids; a boy and a girl. The Ex-Super Eagles Captain and his amiable wife Nkechi with their children, A Jay Okocha (Boy) and Daniella Okocha (Girl) were featured in an issue of Hello Nigeria Magazine. He doesn’t really show a lot about his family on social media as he is relatively a private person. He and his wife do not even have Instagram accounts! According to him, he loves to spend time with his family as they travel around the world together.
The Super Eagle star now spent most of his time in Nigeria.
