Welcome to the wonderful journey of motherhood. Its certainly a new experience for first time mums but most rewarding and fulfilling even for the new dad as well.
The journey of motherhood is just the beginning of a long life, family and parenting journey. Its also about balancing your life as a mother, wife, career and family life.
According to webmd.com, first time Mums often make mistakes when it comes to taking care of their new born babies.
Ignoring Your Marriage: The euphoria of being a Mum can often leave you overwhelmed but while you have to focus a lot on the new baby, you must also maintain a sense of being a wife too. Staying connected within the marriage when you first have a child is really important and can be easily overlooked.
Unreliable Parenting Advice: Many new parents often go to the wrong places for parenting advice. If you don’t have any experienced mother around you to talk to, simply call your child’s doctor. It is very important for you to be careful about where you get information from especially when making decisions about general medical care and immunizations.
Over Worrying & Anxiety:Many new parents spend the first few months worrying about little things like their child’s weight, sleeping posture, feeding and other things their baby does without actually enjoying their child’s first year of life.
Not Letting Your Baby Cry It Out: We, as Mums think our job is to make sure our baby is not crying. That’s because we associate crying with the fact that we are doing something wrong and we need to fix it. Babies are designed to cry, that is the way they communicate. They can be well fed and perfectly diapered and still cry like you are pulling a leg off. But if your baby is inconsolable for an hour and has a fever, a swollen belly, or anything else unusual, call your pediatrician as soon as possible.
